(Not) Sorry About The Gap In Posting
Oh personal blog, how I’ve missed you! But to keep with the theme of being unapologetic… I’m not going to be sorry about being aloof for some time.
It’s been almost 8 weeks since an update, but trust that I’ve been doing good things in between.
After a 3 month hiatus, I started reading again. (Seriously, this pandemic has thrown me off in so many ways.) I finished Marie Kondo’s new book, “Joy At Work”, co-written by business professor Scott Sonenshein. If you read her first book, you’ll see similar messaging in this one. Still, I appreciated the review + Prof Sonenshein’s insights as an organizational psychologist.
I’m currently reading “Lost and Founder” by Rand Fishkin, who is the founder of Moz. After being in startups for the past 6 years, a lot of it was relatable. It’s also convinced me that being a startup founder is not for me. 🙃
BTW, if you happen to be on goodreads, I’m there, too – find me here!
I’ve also picked up some digital marketing “odd jobs” which keep me busy when I’m not taking care of Xavier. One job involves copywriting for junk removal businesses, while another is social media management for a health care startup. They are completely different part-time positions, but I love how they keep my skills in practice. I continue to learn a lot along the way!
Of course, pandemic life persists. I recently had a birthday, but kept it simple by celebrating with 2Chainz (read: doing a Chipotle run and having Krispy Kreme for dessert). I am not at all disappointed with the results, though. At my age, having my immediate family with me, in addition to consistently yummy food checked all the boxes!
I’m also entering this next year of life with the mantra “Promise me no promises”. After all I’ve been through in 2018 and 2019… I’m just going with the flow at this point.
Lastly, my dreams are starting to come back to “normal”. I don’t have Covid anxiety whenever I dream that I’m not wearing a mask. It’s as if the pandemic no longer haunts my dreams. Again, not sure if it’s because I’m just used to #MaskLife now?
On that note, allow me to leave you with optimism. Know that things are looking up, and I hope to share more good news soon.
